Description: State-of-the-Art Waste Transfer Station constructed to ensure that the Council met it’s EU Recycling targets in a sustainable manner.

Design Features:

Specialist ventilation systems due to the station being enclosed.

Renewable/sustainable technologies included:

1. 800KW 65m high wind turbine
2. 22KWp array of roof mounted photo voltaic panels
3. roof mounted solar hot water panels
4. Grey Water Harvesting and SUDS systems

Completion Date:  May 2008

Best Recycling Initiative Award in the Sustainability Ireland Awards 2007

Bronze Award in the International Green Apple Awards 2008 for the Built Environment and Architectural Heritage.
